| Appearance |
Nero could easily pass off as a triplet from the Sparda family, with his bright blue eyes, high cheekbones, pale skin and messily long silver hair. He wears a blue and red duster with a hood, and has a generally stoic composure. He is not too big of a guy, really. Not to the point of being lanky, but it's definitely noticeable when he stands next to, for instance, Dante. Who is like a fucking ogre, no matter what you say, Brittany. His strength definitely doesn't show through in muscle mass, that's for sure. On the other hand, his demon arm is hard to miss. His right arm has what appears to be a mutation--hardened skin turned into some sort of reptilian claw thing. It also looks like it has gashes scarred into it from a demon's attack. This hand, of course, would fail at holding a sword or pistol, so Nero is forced to be left-handed.

Nero is a snarky asshole, to be quite frank. He mouths off even when he is obviously lacking the upper hand, and he's gotten pretty good at it. He can easily talk himself out of situations, but just as easily make them worse. He's confident to the point of cocky arrogance, and has no respect for authority whatsoever.
He's easily bored, and would much rather kick back and listen to music or fight some demons than sit through a lecture of any sort. He's determined, though, when he sets his mind to a task, which makes him a damned good devil hunter and an even better friend. He'd do anything for the people he cares about, even jump to their aide in the worst of odds. Especially Kyrie. He would do anything for the people he loves with no regard for his own safety, as seen when he nurtures the demon in his arm rather than scorning it, just so that he can save Kyrie from the Order.

| Strengths |
Nero, overall, is someone you don't want to meet in a back alley. He's incredibly strong, and despite his size could easily overpower a man twice that. Be it his demon blood, or just his strength in general (after all, the Order considered him their go-to guy even before the incident with his arm), Nero is incredibly strong--especially by human standards. Added on top of all that strength, he has the powerful sword Red Queen which can be charged to actually ignite, and the double-barreled pistol Blue Rose, both of which he wields left-handed.
On top of that, he has his demon arm. Essentially, this arm can be compared to a godhand in that it will not only create an arm larger than him to attack an enemy with, it has immense range and power. Once he has acquired Yamato, Vergil's sword, he wields it with that arm and can become completely possessed by the spirit of Nelo Angelo, or something similar to Vergil's Devil May Cry Devil Trigger form. He also has moderate regeneration abilities due to the demon blood, which are severely enhanced significantly by his transformation with Yamato.
In terms of his mental strength, he is a hard nut to crack. He was barely phased by the revelation that his religion was a bunch of insane extremists forming a sick cult. It's extremely hard to break him down, despite how hard the Order tries.

| Weaknesses |
He doesn't really have any physical weak points, and even if he did, the regeneration would all but negate them. When it comes down to it, he can be worn out like any human, but it's both quite hard and quite time consuming. He can be restrained, but again, only by immense force. Like, maybe a giant stone statue of Sparda's fist will manage it.
Mentally, however, his weak point centers around Kyrie. Any time she is put in danger, his defenses crumble and he disregards all logic to try and protect or save her. He'll even self-destruct in the process, as long as it gives her a chance at being alright.

So. Devil May Cry 4 opens with Nero running through the streets of the Castletown, Fortuna, on his way to Sunday Mass at the local Church of Sparda (all rights reserved, previously known as the Order of the Sword), where his best friend from childhood and love interest, Kyrie, is singing a hymn. He arrives late, just as her song ends, because he is a jackass and gets stopped by demons, but Kyrie forgives him because he has sexy headphones and comes bearing a pretty gold necklace for her. In any case, Sanctus starts rambling and Nero tunes out while Kyrie gawks. Finally deciding he is BORED and should just blow the joint, he gets up to leave, ignoring Kyrie's protests that he absolutely MUST listen to the old man drone.
Just as he's about to leave, his devil arm begins to GLOW ominously, and Nero takes notice to it like any normal person would. Kyrie, of course, remains oblivious. At least, until Dante comes CRASHING THROUGH THE FUCKING CEILING GOING "OH YEAH" to kill Sanctus, the priest of their wonderful mass. Point blank. A whole barrage of knights got after him and fail, so of course the best method of action is for Nero to take him on. One on one. It's the only logical plan of action. So, Nero shoos Kyrie out with her brother Credo to get back up. Which, mind you, will never arrive, and proceeds to beat the hell out of Dante and pin him with intense dramatic irony to the statue of Sparda above the pulpit.
Without giving a name, and after mocking Nero a bit, Dante disappears, and Nero is instructed to hunt him down and bring him back to the Order to face JUSTICE!!11 for murdering his holiness, Sanctus. With his trusty sword, and knowing Kyrie is safe back in Fortuna, he treks bravely onward. He first comes across Berial, who says that Nero looks an awful lot like someone. So, he rolls up to Castle Fortuna, where he bullshits his way around some and runs into Gloria. Gloria is to Trish what a police car is to Barricade a woman sent by the Order to help him along the way. She disappears mysteriously, and Nero goes to dick around some more and fight Bael, a giant ice toad, but not before fucking around with its lesbian feelers. They were just asking for that three-way.
Anyway, so he winds up in a secret underground research facility belonging to Agnus, the Order of the Sword's secret doctor who is turning people into demons and has Yamato chilling, broken, in his lab. Agnus tells Nero that his holiness has come back to life as a demon, and that he wants to experiment on Nero's arm. He attacks Nero for backtalking, but Nero overcomes him easily and coaxes the Order's plans out of him. He reunites Yamato with the power of his arm and channels Vergil for the first time, then, and informs Agnus that he's been hearing the voice ever since his arm became like that, calling for power, but that he'll do anything to protect Kyrie--even if it means becoming a demon. This display of power proves to be enough to scare Agnus off, and he turns into a demon and flies away back to base.
Nero continues out of the lab and into a forest--god knows where the fuck that came from, it was snowing just a second ago--and after dicking around there a bit, he fights Echidna, a giant tentacle plant lady. No game is complete without one. He beats her and proceeds up a HUGE walkway that leads to a plateau. Why? Because it's cool. Anyway, so Nero runs into Credo here and asks him why the bastard's been fucking with his head. Credo says it's because the Order is cooler than you think. A fight erupts, and Nero wins. Go figure.
Agnus shows up! Surprise! With Kyrie, this time. Holding her HOSTAGE. Kyrie thinks that Nero has just beaten the hell out of her brother for no reason, so she freaks out and is scared of him. Credo freaks the fuck out because, dude, that's his sister, and Agnus explains that it was JUST AS PLANNED. Sanctus had never intended for Credo to win, so they had planned to use Kyrie against him instead. Nero freaks the fuck out, too! Agnus escapes with Kyrie, Cronus tells Nero that he'll have to go on a quest for the Holy Grail to save her, by means of heading back to Headquarters. It's the most secret secret base ever. No one would think to look in the Headquarters for the reanimated corpse of the Church of Sparda's priest-pope.
Needless to say, Nero rolls on over there and fights Agnus who is keeping Kyrie in a bug light. Why? Because it's cool. Nero beats Agnus, and is about to grab the girl when--oh no! Sanctus shows up and grabs her. Nero performs this big insane aerial leap as they get away and barely gets his hands on Kyrie's necklace. Which kind of makes you wonder where he thought he'd get a hold on her from, but that's irrelevant. Sanctus taunts him and escapes with Kyrie.
Nero has a mental breakdown and starts beating the floor in with his demon hand because apparently, despite all that power, he couldn't do anything to save her when it really counted. He goes to hunt Sanctus down, finding him by a GIANT STATUE OF SPARDA that is apparently now animated with the help of Kyrie being sucked inside of it, and Sanctus moving it with his mind. It's all very G Gundam. Anyway, Nero gets snatched up and Sanctus prattles on about how Nero has the blood of Sparda and how they really wanted to use Dante to revive this statue, The Savior, but that Nero will do. So he tries to suck him inside. Credo shows up, makes his stand, gets his ass kicked. As he's dying, Dante rolls up and gets to hear him beg about saving Nero and Kyrie. Dante complains about how Nero is a failure at life for getting sucked inside the statue.
So, Dante dicks around a bit, and has his fun, then decides it's time to fight the Savior and get Nero to take care of the inside. They can apparently talk to one another through the stone, so this is no problem. Nero runs around inside for a while, refights some old bosses, and finally comes across Sanctus. Why it took him this long? Nothing ever gets done in a DMC plot unless you're playing as the character doing it. So, he fights Sanctus at Sparda's core and basically rapes his ass. Kyrie is trapped in some glowing vat of flesh nearby, and when Nero cuts her loose, the Savior dies.
They both come out safe, and Nero says his goodbyes to Dante, wondering if he'll ever see him again. Dante, as always, makes no promises and just walks off. Nero proceeds to mack on Kyrie, but is cockblocked when a bunch of low level demons pop up. He defeats them to protect Kyrie, and she accepts him for all that he is, demon or human. And they both set forth to rebuild Fortuna, but this time, not under some false god.
